In the weekend when it should happen for Max Verstappen, he finished ahead of teammate Sergio Perez in Friday qualifying. Indeed, the Dutchman took pole for the Qatar Grand Prix. This qualifying also provides another fresh stand in the qualifying duels between Formula 1 drivers. GPblog lists.

Verstappen put his RB19 in pole position in Qatar, as so often this season. This means that Red Bull Racing's 26-year-old driver is again ahead of his Mexican teammate. So the standings change from 14-1 to 15-1, and the gap continues to widen. Painfully, Logan Sargeant has never outperformed Alexander Albon in qualifying this season, meaning the score is now 17-0 (!).

The visibly stricken Lance Stroll is also only seeing the gap to his teammate Fernando Alonso widen. The same goes for Haas driver Kevin Magnussen who sees teammate Nico Hulkenberg run out again. Leclerc qualified better than Carlos Sainz and is also widening that gap in his battle with the Spaniard.

Verstappen 15-1 Perez*
Leclerc 10-7 Sainz
Hamilton 8-9 Russell
Ocon 7-10 Gasly
Norris 12-5 Piastri
Bottas 11-5 Zhou**
Alonso 15-2 Stroll
Magnussen 4-12 Hulkenberg*
Tsunoda 4-1 Lawson / Tsunoda 1-1 Ricciardo / Tsunoda 7-2 De Vries
Albon 17-0 Sargeant
