Felipe Massa is doing all he can to still claim the world title he missed out on in 2008. Following statements by then-F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone about him and then-FIA president Max Mosley already knowing about the crashgate scandal during the season, the Brazilian decided to take action. Bernardo Viano, one of Massa's lawyers, is now even hoping that Lewis Hamilton, now seen as the 2008 champion, will want to support the case.

The crashgate scandal, in which Nelson Piquet Jr. deliberately crashed his car into the wall during the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix to allow Fernando Alonso to win, was followed up this year. Following Ecclestone's statements, Massa is doing everything possible to ensure that the Singapore race is no longer counted in the championship, which would ensure that the former Ferrari driver would become champion himself. The Brazilian would have received a huge amount of money had he not missed out on the championship, and so he now hopes to achieve it this way.

Massa's lawyer hopes to support Hamilton

Viano is part of the team helping Massa with the legal battle to claim the title after all. The Brazilian lawyer tells Reuters.com that he is now even hoping for Lewis Hamilton's cooperation: "He is an important ambassador for the sport and has always defended sporting integrity. He is an honorary Brazilian citizen and very well-liked by Brazilians, so I hope he will support us."
