Aston Martin finally understand AMR23 weaknesses

Aston Martin got off to a great start to the 2023 Formula 1 season. The team was on the podium in just about every race, but after Canada things went downhill. The team then scored 'only' fifth place as its best result. Technical director Dan Fallows argues that the team now understands its weaknesses.

Aston Martin lose speed

That Aston Martin would be weaker at tracks like the Red Bull Ring and Spa-Francorchamps was expected, but the British team's speed was also disappointing at the Hungaroring. Earlier, the track in Hungary was actually labelled as a circuit that should suit the AMR23 well. However, the two Aston Martin drivers finished ninth and tenth there.

Why Aston Martin lost speed is now clear to the team. "We’ve been working tirelessly to develop our understanding of the AMR23. We believe we now have a good understanding of the car’s weaknesses and we’re taking steps to address them," Fallows told in an Aston Martin press release.

Aston Martin aim for points at Zandvoort

Circuit Zandvoort has a track with many corners and few straights, which seems to make it a good track for Aston Martin. "We hope that the performance of the car
at Zandvoort, with our latest updates, will confirm we are heading in the right direction and help Lance and Fernando fight for points this weekend."
