1997 Formula One champion Jacques Villeneuve has criticized Sebastian Vettel for his move on Max Verstappen, questioning why the German was in such a hurry when he made that dive.

Vettel was desperately trying to keep up with the Mercedes cars that were ahead of Verstappen as the four-time champion started from P8 after a poor qualifying outing. He went on the inside of Verstappen but clipped the RB14, causing his Ferrari to spin and to end his chance to catch the Silver Arrows at the front of the pack.

"Why is Seb in such a hurry?" Villeneuve asks out loud when speaking to Auto Motor und Sport.

"He has to realize that Verstappen has the five seconds [penalty].

"I'm sorry, it was Vettel's fault."

However, the Canadian also hit out at Verstappen, saying that the 21-year-old should've been punished more heavily for his contact with Kimi Raikkonen earlier after over-hitting a corner and driving into the Finn.

"It's been some time since Verstappen was punished properly," Villeneuve continued.

"He broke Kimi's race.

"Five seconds [penalty] is far too little."

Do you agree with the very outspoken Villeneuve on both subjects? Was Vettel indeed at fault in the Verstappen incident, and should Verstappen have been punished more heavily for driving into Raikkonen? There's certainly a case to be made for both!
