Norris hugely surprised by Driver of the Day Perez: "What the hell!"

Lando Norris came second for McLaren in Hungary. The young Briton drove a handsome race, but the Driver of the Day went to Sergio Perez. Norris was clearly hugely surprised at the Mexican getting this award.

Norris climbed one place from his starting position, from three to two. Perez started the Hungarian Grand Prix ninth in his RB19 and, after a lot of overtaking, managed to finish the race at the Hungaroring in third place. For a while, it looked like the Mexican would also pass Norris, but in the end he did not succeed. Perez won Driver of the Day in Hungary as a result of his overtaking.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Norris was told that the "prize" had gone to Perez and it was clear from the Briton's reply that he disagreed. "He got Driver of the Day? What the hell!" To which the interviewer responded, "You could have worked harder." Norris had a particularly sharp answer to that too: "Then I need a quicker car. Yeah, it's a wonderful day, a wonderful day."
