It was one of the most talked-about driver duos in Formula 1 when Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso drove together for McLaren. It was by no means a happy partnership, but Hamilton is not ruling out a renewed collaboration, telling DAZN.

Mclaren thought it had found a golden duo in 2007. A two-time world champion alongside a mega-talent. Alonso came over from Renault after two world titles to give the people from Woking a title, while young Hamilton was the up-and-coming racing talent on the English side. It ended in a fiasco.

The drivers could not get along and regularly tried to get in each other's way, quite literally. Both drivers still had a chance of winning the world title in the final race, but due to a fierce rivalry, they had lost so many points that number three in the standings, Kimi Räikkönen, could still catch up.

Hamilton and Alonso together again?

In the end, it was the Finn who grabbed the world title in Brazil. The two McLaren drivers had gotten in each other's way too much during the season, leaving Raikkonen to take the trophy. Tensions ran so high that the Spaniard decided to return to Renault after a year. Hamilton stayed put and a year later captured his first world title with the British team.

Now, 16 years later, seven-time world champion Hamilton is not ruling out a new partnership with two-time world champion Alonso. "If the stars align, I would drive with Alonso in the same team. But I don't think they will."
