Felipe Drugovich is getting back into Formula E, as the Aston Martin F1 team's test and reserve driver will be taking part in the rookie test in Rome with Maserati MSG Racing. This test will take place on 14 July, the Friday before the Rome ePrix. Earlier this season, the reigning Formula 2 champion was allowed to do the rookie test in Berlin with Maserati.

Drugovich told in a press release from Maserati that he was happy with his second test for the team: "My first experience of Formula E in Berlin was very positive, and I found the Maserati Tipo Folgore very fun and rewarding to drive. The series is unique in comparison to any other single-seater category, and after discovering the nuances of the Gen3 car earlier this year, I’m excited to continue my own development as a driver in Rome. Representing such an iconic Italian brand in the heart of its capital city will be a very special experience, and I would like to thank the team for their continued support. I can’t wait."

'Drugovich impressed'

James Rossiter, Maserati team boss, is also looking forward to the Brazilian's return: "Felipe really impressed us in Berlin, and after showing strong technical understanding and awareness – despite having never driven a Formula E car before – he was our natural first choice for Rome. Nurturing the next generation of talent is a key part of who we are as a team, and to provide this opportunity to Felipe, who is one of motorsport’s most promising young drivers, is very meaningful to us. We can’t wait for him to gain more experience behind the wheel."

Drugovich participated in the winter tests with Aston Martin as Lance Stroll was injured in a cycling accident. The Canadian had recovered just in time for the start of the F1 season, so Drugovich is still waiting for his racing debut for the English team.
