Robert Kubica believes that if he does replace Lance Stroll for the 2019 vacant Williams seat, like some rumours suggest, that it might not be the "happy ending" that he wants...

Stroll is expected to join Lawrence Stroll's (his dad's) new team, following the Canadian businessman and his consortium saving Racing Point Force India from administration - hence the new name.

Paddy Lowe has already admitted that if Stroll does make the move across the grid, then it is likely that Kubica will make the step up for the remainder of the season.

However, Kubica reveals that it is all speculation at the moment and nothing has yet been finalised.

"For me, it is more speculation than emotion," Kubica told Poland's Przeglad Sportowy. "A lot happened in Formula One in August, but for me, it's not like a lot of doors suddenly opened or closed."

Kubica is not the only name who has been linked with the potentially open Williams seat - the likes of George Russel and Artem Markelov have both been rumoured (F2 drivers).

And the favourite is Force India's Esteban Ocon, who has impressed this season for the team, but may be without a seat for next season if Stroll does replace him at Force India.

Kubica has issued a warning to the Frenchman, though, saying that he shouldn't get too excited.

"If I was him, I would not be pushing too much for it," Kubica said. "But I just do my own thing."
