This weekend, the Monaco Grand Prix is scheduled. The Grand Prix weekend in Imola was cancelled just last week due to huge rainfall, for the weekend in Monaco a lot of rain is also forecast by Weather.com.

Rain all weekend

Showers are forecast throughout the day for Friday in Monaco. There is a 70 per cent chance of rain and even a chance of thunderstorms. It will be a maximum of 22 degrees Celsius and during the night it will be dry in the city-state.

For Saturday, thunderstorms are already forecast and showers will fall throughout the day and night. It will be one degree warmer than on Friday and there is a 70 per cent chance of rain as on Friday. For Sunday, the weather forecast is not much different except for the fact that the thunderstorms disappear. Showers will fall throughout the day, so the chances of the first rain race of 2023 are very high.

New Pirelli rain tyre

Mario Isola previously informed GPblog that Pirelli wanted to introduce tyres that do not require tyre warmers for the first time this season. For the weekend in Imola, Pirelli had brought a revamped rain tyre, which can also be used without tyre warmers. However, this weekend was cancelled due to too much rain, which caused flooding in the Italian region.

With rain predicted again for next weekend in Monaco, the new 'Cinturato Blue' rain tyre does look set to make its debut this weekend. This is also how Pirelli chief Isola sees it. "After the cancellation of Imola, Monaco could now be the debut for the new Cinturato Blue, full wets without tyre warmers, obviously depending on weather conditions," Isola said in a Pirelli press release.
