Pérez's farther: 'We're going to see Checo in F1 for another ten years'

The father of Red Bull Racing driver Sergio Pérez, Antonio Pérez Garibay, thinks we will see his son driving in F1 for another 10 years. The Mexican is concerned about the future generation of Mexican F1 drivers and thinks his son should keep going.

Although Max Verstappen's teammate is already 33 years old, his father does not rule out Pérez adding another ten years in Formula 1 if he is allowed to. Speaking to ESPN, Perez compares his son to Fernando Alonso: "I think we are going to see Checo for the next ten years. We have to start preparing the next generation in those ten years."

'Pérez can give Mexico a championship'

He continued: "Look at the age of Alonso and of that Checo. Then you have a bit of an idea of what's left in it for Checo. I'm talking about 10 years, but if they give us five years, that will already be great." According to father Pérez, the Red Bull driver is currently at his best: "In those five years, he can get Mexico a championship."

Pérez Garibay notes that finding his son's Mexican successor is difficult. He is busy working on the future of Formula 1 in Mexico in several areas. In fact, Pérez is also working on a large-scale plan to get a second Mexican Grand Prix on the calendar in Cancun.
