Lando Norris is positive about the changes coming at McLaren. The Brit, who is currently eighth in the championship, thinks McLaren have a good idea of how to improve now.

McLaren's start to the season has certainly not been anything to write home about. In Bahrain, mechanical problems caused Oscar Piastri to retire and Norris to lose the race, and in Saudi Arabia, both drivers were relegated to the rear. In Australia, the team was able to keep up slightly better and both drivers finished in the points, although they were greatly helped by a large number of dropouts in the race.

Norris also recognises that Australia did not paint a fair picture of McLaren's current state. "There have been plenty of ups and downs," reflected the Brit on McLaren's website. "We've learned that there are some good parts and some strengths to this car that we want to keep, but there are clearly some weaker areas that we are working on and focused on improving."

Norris is optimistic about the team atmosphere

"There will be some races where we are performing well and some where we aren’t as strong, so we’ll just take it one race at a time," Norris continued. "We just want to maximise every weekend, so we’re not looking at the bigger picture just yet, but I don’t think we need to do too much differently. When we are struggling a bit more with pace, that is when we have to step up and do an even better job. It is about how everyone works together to get everything out of the car that is possible. Everyone is doing a really good job, though. We're all really motivated because we know we have some good things in the pipeline for further down the line."
