Every now and then, rumours pop up about Adrian Newey, leaving one wondering whether he is not ready for another challenge after all these years at Red Bull Racing. Christian Horner already debunked the rumours and even David Coulthard does not see the master designer, whom he himself brought from McLaren to Red Bull, leaving for another team.

Immediately after the creation of Red Bull Racing, which debuted in Formula 1 in 2005, Christian Horner set his sights on Adrian Newey. Together with Coulthard, who had worked with Newey for a long time at McLaren, he managed to bring the designer and aerodynamics specialist to the new team.

Meanwhile, Newey is already in his eighteenth season at the Milton Keynes-based racing stable and he seems to be making all but no plans to leave. Given Red Bull's current form, there is little reason to, yet his name has recently been linked to other teams. For instance, Damon Hill would like to see him go to Mercedes, but Ferrari was also mentioned.

Coulthard does not see Newey leaving Red Bull

When Coulthard was asked by Dutch broadcaster Ziggo Sport whether there was even the slightest chance of Newey swapping Red Bull for the Italian racing team, a clear answer followed: "Not a chance. Adrian's in his sixties, he's still got a lot of hunger and he's still got a lot of passion for Formula One, but he's British. He's, let's say, a particular kind of guy. He is not a showman to go to Ferrari at this stage of his career."

The 13-time Grand Prix winner added that anything is possible, but that he simply does not see it happening. "Of course, it could happen, anything you can imagine can happen. But I just think it would be not the right place, not the right time, and he's too settled in the United Kingdom," Coulthard said.
