Jean Todt is enjoying retirement these days. The Frenchman focuses on voluntary work and recently saw his girlfriend Michelle Yeoh win the Oscar for best actress. In a now grey past, Todt was the team boss of Ferrari. With the Italians, he strung together World Championships.

Michael Schumacher was the team's star driver. As is well known, the German has been rehabilitating from his skiing accident for years. The Corriere della Serra asked - not as the first medium - Todt about the status of his former pupil. "Let's leave him alone, we respect the privacy wishes of Corinna and her children, we know that that accident had consequences. Whoever claims to know something, knows nothing. I always go to him. He and his family are my family," Todt said.

Once the dominant factor

The days when Ferrari was the dominant factor in Formula 1 are now far behind us. After a brief upturn last season, the Italians have slumped again this year. Todt says of the team's current stated: "It is necessary to have the best in every area. A company is judged at the front door. You have to take the best and then coordinate them by creating a fertile environment."

Todt would not comment further on whether Ferrari currently lacks quality in the organisation: "It is not for me to judge. I only say that I wish Ferrari all the best," Todt said, indicating he did not know new team boss Fred Vasseur well.
