Here's what's going to change at Ferrari strategically in 2023

Prior to the winter tests, reports were already seeping through from the Italian media that the strategic leadership at Ferrari has fallen into the hands of Ravin Jain, while former top man Inaki Rueda had to step down. Frederic Vasseur, who in turn replaced Mattia Binotto as team boss, explains that decision to Spanish AS.

Rueda is no longer the head of strategy, despite Vasseur indicating when he took office that there would be no changes to the structure. In Bahrain, the Frenchman, who came over from Alfa Romeo Racing, explained: "With strategy, it seems to be a matter of an individual at the pit wall, but it is not. There are people in the factory, there is software and there is a flow of communication to the pit wall that is important."

Ferrari makes multiple adjustments

The Ferrari team boss continued: "We have decided to change the organisation a bit, we will be less on the wall and Iñaki will concentrate in the factory on the sporting side with Ravin from the pit wall." So Rueda will no longer travel with the Formula One team. Instead, he will be at Maranello every Grand Prix weekend. However, Vasseur does not want to speak of a "relegation" for the Spaniard.

Meanwhile, what has changed at Ferrari ahead of the new season? "We have worked on the flow of communication so that it is direct. If you have to react in a second, you have to be prepared for something you can't prepare for. We have made it all a bit more direct and that will make the team work better. If something doesn't work, you have to understand why it didn't work. Often it is a matter of the flow of information and not who pushes the button and decides."
