Hartley suggests Toro Rosso cost him a points finish

Brendon Hartley claims Toro Rosso ruined his chances of a points finish by pitting him too early. The New Zealander finished 11th while team-mate Gasly picked up eight points finishing 6th.

"I'm disappointed not to score points after a strong qualifying," said Hartley who ventured into Q3 for the first time in his F1 career on Saturday.

"I had a great start but decided not to dive up the inside of Gasly which ultimately lost me a place to Magnussen," he continued in his interview on F1i.

"My race was then destroyed as I was stuck behind Sainz during the first half of the race when he was on a harder tyre. We then reacted too early to Hulkenberg pitting behind and putting the Medium tyre, which didn’t give me the best performance."

The 28-year-old has scored just two points compared to Gasly's 26 point tally. Earlier in the season, rumours made it seem like he was getting forced out the team, but it looks like his confidence is growing.
