Logan Sargeant is on the eve of his debut year in Formula 1. Speaking to GPblog, the American spoke about his first experiences within the team, working with Alexander Albon and what we can expect from his driving style.

Teaming up with Albon

Williams have stuck with Albon in 2023, but a new driver will take his place alongside the British-Thai. Sargeant replaces Nicholas Latifi. This marks the first time since Alexander Rossi that an American takes to the Formula 1 grid, with Williams opting for a proven winner. How does Sargeant himself feel like now that he is a full-time F1 driver?

"It all started at the back of last season and has been work in progress," Logan replied to a question from GPblog. ''With Alex, we have a great relationship. He has been open and honest teammate, someone I am really looking forward to working with in 2023. I think we can push each other forward and then help push the team forward and get the best results we can for the team."

Sargeant's driving style

Still, Sargeant is a new name in F1 for many people. The American made a name for himself in F2 in 2022 with two main race wins, but the 22-year-old driver is not yet known to the general public. Asked how his driving style is best described, the Williams driver points mainly to his qualifying.

"In qualifying, that's my bread and butter and my favourite part of the weekend. I like to lay it all on the line in qualifying. The races are all about getting on top of tyre management to be honest. That's going to be work in progress and something that we will keep improving on throughout the season," concluded the driver who finished fourth in F2 last season.

Williams presented the new livery for the FW45 on Monday afternoon. The Grove-based team not only presented the new livery, but also three new US sponsors, including a classic one: Gulf.
