Alexander Rossi was the last American driver in action in Formula 1 in 2015. With the arrival of Logan Sargeant, this will change next racing year. The Williams talent is expecting a lot from his first year in the motorsport class, although he wants to save himself from expecting too much.

As Williams wanted to say goodbye to Nicholas Latifi, it started looking for a replacement for the Canadian. Sargeant soon came into the team's picture, but his eligibility for a super licence was long in doubt. He managed to obtain this in the final race in Abu Dhabi.

In the coming months, then, he will start getting ready for his Formula 1 debut. "I’d say, right now, the goal is to prepare the best I can, mentally and physically," states Sargeant in conversation with GQ. "That’s the process, and we’ll be working on that every day until the first race of the season."

Sargeant on special visit

Sargeant is particularly looking forward to three race weekends. Indeed, with the Grands Prix in Austin, Miami and Las Vegas, the driver returns to his home country no less than three times, where there will be extra attention for his presence.

In fact, it means a very special visit for Sargeant in one race weekend. "Yeah, that Miami track is right near the house where I grew up, so that’s pretty cool," he explains. "And Vegas will be absolutely insane as well." The first US race for him will take place on 7 May, to be held in Miami. The other two GPs will follow in the second half of the season.
