Steiner thinks Haas were "lucky"

Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner thinks that his team were "lucky" to end up as highly as they did with both cars, as Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen finished P4 and P5 respectively.

The American team certainly were the surprise package of the weekend as Romain Grosjean was just one point away from climbing the podium. Well, Mercedes might've been the surprise package as literally nobody could've predicted both of their cars to break down with mechanical issues.

"Everybody realised the potential the car has got, we just didn't turn it into enough points," Steiner told ESPN, reflecting on past races.

"We had some points but we didn't make enough."

That probably was because Romain Grosjean hadn't scored any points up until this point, but that's a different argument.

"This time, we scored," he continued.

"We were lucky this time, by two dropping out or three dropping out in front of us so to finish fourth and fifth.

"In the end, the car showed it was the best of the rest today, dominating that position."

Haas have now overtaken McLaren and Force India in the constructors' standings, and only have Renault to beat if they want to be best of the rest. The French team has been really consistent this year but didn't manage to score any points in Austria, as Nico Hülkenberg retired and Carlos Sainz Jr finished outside of the points.
