Nyck de Vries could just be in action for six different Formula 1 teams this year. The Dutchman is currently on standby at McLaren, which sent Lando Norris back to his hotel because the driver was feeling ill. To be on the safe side, De Vries is already being prepared for a possible entry at the British team.

McLaren prepares De Vries

McLaren has already said it assumes Norris can just drive, but to be on the safe side, a replacement must be ready. De Vries can fill in at all Mercedes-powered teams and he is present in Brazil, so should Norris still not be fit he may be allowed to take part in an F1 weekend for the second time this year.

Meanwhile, De Vries has already been spotted taking a seat in Norris' McLaren. In a Twitter-video by Allard Kalff shows the Dutchman in McLaren overalls sitting in the car and consulting with team members. However, chances are it will stop there, which is of course to be hoped for Norris.

De Vries has previously competed for Mercedes, Aston Martin, Williams and Alpine. After the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, he will join AlphaTauri for the first time for the Young Driver Test, bringing the tally to five different F1 teams. Should he still have to fill in for Norris, that makes six.
