Alexander Albon believes the Williams team should be proud of their performance at the United States Grand Prix. He told Formula1.com. The team did not score any points at the race, but Albon still thinks a good job was done.

Albon was having a good race on Sunday, but still dropped back in the rankings in the final stages. In just a few laps, the Williams driver dropped from spot nine to spot 12, failing to secure any points. Teammate Nicholas Latifi finished the race as the straggler in 17th place.

According to Albon, the problem was in the last few laps. "I think if the race finished five, or even three laps earlier we would’ve been able to do it. But we didn't really have the pace. We gave ourselves the opportunity. We were on the front foot on strategy, and we made sure we were in the position to score the points. I think we can be proud of how we did."

Williams has been dangling at the bottom of the standings all season, relying mainly on bold strategies and unexpected situations. For example, Albon was able to score points in Australia by being the only one to make only one pit stop, and Latifi scored his only points in Japan with an early change to intermediates while the rest were still on rain tyres. With only three races to go, it is highly unlikely that Williams will move from last place.
