It should be a big celebration around Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing after securing its second world title, but that is not the case. According to Ted Kravitz, Red Bull is currently unpopular on the paddock and there is a lot of mistrust.

In Japan, Verstappen celebrated becoming Formula One world champion for the second time in a row. Again, it did not go off in a normal way, as the points scoring was not clear to many and Charles Leclerc's penalty also came at the last minute. In America, Red Bull can also become a world champion (among constructors), but more is hanging over the team's head.

Red Bull not loved

Indeed, the FIA announced after the Singapore GP that Red Bull had exceeded the 2021 budget cap, and although Red Bull denies it, there is a lot of distrust in the paddock. ''There's a lot of unease from the other teams, it's fair to say Red Bull aren't the most popular team in the paddock,'' Kravitz stated to Sky Sports.

Red Bull, as an energy drink, has always been the maverick in the sport of big car manufacturers, and the fact that the team has now allegedly tinkered with the budget cap causes those old rivalries to resurface.

''A lot of the other teams feel that Red Bull haven't been playing fair under the rules that they've been playing by. Red Bull say there's going to be some ways of accounting for their figures that will prove they are within the cost cap rules. Some teams say that is recidivous, they've had a lot of time to iron that out. It will rumble on for a while yet, there's a lot of unease amongst the other teams towards Red Bull'', Kravitz concludes.
