Future of Verstappen after title two: 'I want to do other things too'

Those who would like to see Max Verstappen break all records must hope that the Dutchman continues to win a lot in the coming years. After winning his second F1 title in Japan, the Red Bull Racing driver says he does not want to stretch his F1 career.

Verstappen is still tied up in Formula 1 with Red Bull until 2028 and it is quite conceivable that the Dutchman will continue driving in the motorsport's premier class for a few more seasons after that, but on the other hand, it is not out of the question that Verstappen could suddenly quit after that. The 25-year-old driver took his second F1 title in Japan, but also says he does not want to stretch his career in Formula 1 too far.

In an interview with F1.com he is asked how far he can get in the sport: "I can go on for a long time, but eventually I don't see myself racing until I'm forty. After all, I want to do a lot of other things as well. I really enjoy what I'm doing now and I'll be in F1 for a while. I signed for until '28. But after that it just depends. I will probably try some different things in terms of racing. It's important to try different things, I find."

If Verstappen wins the title every year he is under contract with Red Bull, he could still hold the record for most F1 titles during this period. The chances of the Limburger achieving that are just extremely unlikely, but fortunately, Verstappen himself does not seem to care as much about the record lists as many F1 fans do.
