Important day for Red Bull Racing: FIA rules on budget cap
- GPblog.com
It is an important day for Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen. This is because the FIA will announce the figures for the 2021 budget cap and then Red Bull will know for sure whether it has exceeded the limit, according to the sport's governing body.
Before the Singapore Grand Prix, German and Italian media leaked that two teams would have exceeded the budget cap in 2021. The teams in question would be Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing, with the latter having gone significantly over the limit. This news caused great discontent among competitors.
2021 budget cap results
Toto Wolff and Mattia Binotto clearly took their stand: Red Bull needed to be severely punished if this was the truth. According to the team bosses of Mercedes and Ferrari respectively, every million can make a big difference in this sport, and the 2021 budget cap not only affected that year, but with the development of the new car, it also affected the current year.
The FIA also read all the rumours and responded that it was still investigating. Where the rumours came from was also unknown to the FIA. Last Wednesday, the FIA was supposed to come up with a decision, but on that day it was announced that the decision was postponed until the following Monday. That is today and so we are eagerly awaiting the outcome.
