Christian Horner has said that both Red Bulls had the same pace in Barcelona as eventual race winner Lewis Hamilton, who won the race in rather dominating fashion.

In qualifying, both Red Bulls clearly lacked pace to keep up with either Ferrari or Mercedes. Qualifying has been a problem for the Bulls, even with their new upgrades in place.

When it came to the race, Max Verstappen ended third even though he had a damaged front wing, and Daniel Ricciardo ended in P5, over fifty seconds behind Hamilton. Still, Horner thinks they could have kept up with Hamilton's race pace.

"We were very strong in the race, and our car looked very strong out there too," he told Crash.net.

"Unfortunately, it's nearly impossible to overtake in Barcelona.

"When Kimi retired from the race, we had incredible pace and our tyres were under control too.

"We could easily keep up with Hamilton, especially in the second part of the race.

"It was unfortunate that we were held back a few times in the race, otherwise the result would've been even better."

A bold claim from Horner, seeing that Hamilton's lead was never in danger. Daniel Ricciardo did rip off a few fastest lap in the last stages of the race, but the gap between him and Sebastian Vettel in P4 was far too great for him to close down.
