Mike Krack has expressed his hope that Sebastian Vettel will stay with the team beyond this season. The Aston Martin team boss called the four-time champion's two years with the British outfit an "investment" that he believes the German will not walk away from.

Vettel's contract expires at the end of 2022, but whether the German plans to stay is still a big question mark. He is said to have strong doubts about his future as a Formula One driver and whether he can still muster the energy to take the team forward. Aston Martin, however, is confident that the four-time world champion will not turn his back on the team, given the time and effort he has already put in.

Aston Martin wants to keep Vettel

Although Vettel has his doubts, he is in talks about a possible contract extension. "Sebastian is very, very positive, very constructive, so from that point of view, I really hope that we can continue," said Krack in conversation with Formula1.com. The team boss praised both Vettel and Lance Stroll for their positivity and constructive feedback, especially given the disappointing performance of the AMR22. "It would be easy for them to get frustrated but this is not what happens."

Krack is keen to keep Vettel in his team and is confident that the feeling is mutual. "Also, maybe the investment that he has made now over two years, he should also maybe be in a position to get something from it and not hand it to someone else later," he said.
