Valtteri Bottas drove a fairly spectacular overtaking race with Alfa Romeo, but was unable to redeem it with points. The Finn finished eleventh and says the Swiss team must continue to improve the car.

Bottas started the weekend in Austria with a big deficit already. He had to start from the pit lane on Sunday due to a lot of parts being changed. Despite this, he came back in the race and even managed to finish in the points for a while.

Alfa Romeo must continue to develop

Due to a late overtaking by Fernando Alonso, who also had to start the race from behind, Bottas lost the chance to score points at the Red Bull Ring. "I definitely was hoping for better and a bit more pace and that way a bit more points," Bottas said in a conversation with F1.com.

Bottas sees rivals such as Alpine F1 Team, McLaren and Haas F1 continuing to score many points and knows it is important Alfa Romeo continues to develop the C42. "We must keep progressing, since the other teams are doing so as well," he said.

No points for Bottas again

Bottas had an excellent start to 2022, scoring points in six of the first seven races. In the last four races, only one point was scored, a seventh place in Canada. With 46 points, the former Mercedes driver holds eighth place in the championship.
