Helmut Marko, like all of Red Bull Racing, would have liked to see at least one driver on the front row of the grid, but that it ended up being P3 and P4 is no disaster. Red Bull has to go in pursuit, but they are only too happy to accept that challenge.

"We are eight km/h faster, that should give us a chance when we get to the detection point for the DRS," Marko is quoted by Austrian television station ServusTV. Like team boss Christian Horner, he thinks Red Bull Racing has a good chance of overtaking the Ferraris as long as they manage to get within a second of their rivals under their own power.

What will the tyre do?

It's very hot in Miami and that means the tyres will also have a hard time. How the Pirelli rubber will hold up is actually a big question mark for all the teams. "The tyre wear will be decisive. We don't know, it's a completely new asphalt layer," says the 78-year-old Austrian.

On top of that, due to three red flags, no lengthy-long runs could be driven in FP2. Most simulations lasted only four or five laps, which according to Marko is certainly not significant. What Red Bull's strategy will remain to be seen, but the hard tyre would be difficult to warm up, according to Marko.
