Carlos Sainz has had a painful start to the season. The Spaniards started in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia with a promising second and third place respectively, but then things went wrong. With two retirements at the beginning of the race, he was mainly on the sidelines watching the last two Grands Prix. That does not sit well with him, as he frankly tells Soymotor.com.

In addition to the two crashes he has experienced in recent weeks, he also has to contend with a teammate who is performing well. Indeed, Charles Leclerc is still way up in the world standings and looks set to team up with Max Verstappen this season to decide who will take home the world title.

Sainz is currently mainly concerned with his performance. "The difficult thing is that they come one after the other," the driver told the interviewer about the retirements. "It hurts more, but hopefully we have put this behind us in the first part of the season and we can start focusing on the rest of the year."

Possible pressure on Sainz and Leclerc

Emerson Fittipaldi stated earlier this week that Leclerc's and Sainz's urge to prove themselves is too great for the time being, making them feel too much pressure. According to the Brazilian, it is therefore important that the Italian racing team manages to get both drivers into their cars more calmly.
