Mercedes has had the least season start of recent years. Nevertheless, the team can be satisfied, because despite a lesser car, it is in second place in the world championship with George Russell. James Vowles is therefore confident about the coming months.

During the preseason in Barcelona and Bahrain it was already clear that Mercedes was lagging behind the competition. Red Bull Racing and Ferrari also proved to be a lot faster in the first three Grands Prix, although the Austrian team did not immediately gain any extra points due to a few scrapes.

Vowles hopes for faster improvements at Mercedes

At the same time, the Motorsport Strategy Director knows that the season is still long, so he is working behind the scenes to improve the car to such an extent that it can compete. Although it is questionable whether Mercedes can still catch up, Vowles is confident.

"The work that takes place now is a review of what has happened in Melbourne," Vowles explained on Mercedes' YouTube channel. "An understanding of what we need to do going forward into Imola, to progress the car into a championship winner." This coming weekend, the Imola GP is scheduled to take place.
