Red Bull makes progress in Australia: 'Found good direction'

Christian Horner is optimistic after the first two free practice sessions in Australia. Ferrari still seemed to have the upper hand slightly on Friday, but the Red Bull Racing team boss sees opportunities in Melbourne.

The 2022 Formula One season has started with two clear teams at the front of the grid. Ferrari and Red Bull already competed for pole and victory in the first two races and look set to do so again in Australia. After Friday, Ferrari seems to be the favourite, but Horner also sees plenty of opportunities for his own racing team.

Red Bull is in good shape

"I think we made progressive changes that got the car more closer to the window and the race run at the end looked pretty decent. So, a bit of work to do and things to tidy up, but we have a good direction and the car is starting to respond to those changes," Horner told Sky Sports.

When asked about the new floor and diffuser at Ferrari, Horner appears to know nothing about it. "They didn't bring anything to race one whereas some teams had an update package from the test. So, I think we will see the different introductions at different races. What you have to do this year has to fall into the budget cup, so you have to think strategically," concludes the Brit.
