Ferrari, according to Helmut Marko, has made a big step when it comes to the engine. The Austrian states that the Italians are in the lead, followed by Red Bull Powertrains. The problems at Mercedes are remarkable.

The 2022 Formula One season is underway and after two races it is clear which teams are calling the shots. Ferrari and Red Bull Racing are facing each other in a new title fight, where Mercedes has been forced to chase early on. The engine is a major pain point here, where for years it was Mercedes' great strength.

Leading Ferrari

Speaking to ServusTV, Marko states that Ferrari is currently ahead when it comes to the engine. Red Bull Powertrains follows and only after that is Mercedes. This is unusual for the German team. Earlier, Red Bull's advisor stated that you should never discount Mercedes and that they can still make updates to certain engine parts until September 1.

Marko also points to the problems of the Mercedes chassis. The team still bounces tremendously, which means the ride height has to be adjusted. If Mercedes solves that, it can come closer. Red Bull itself is also still struggling with the car. Where Ferrari is fast everywhere, the man from Graz states that the RB18 is a 'Prima Donna.' A more difficult car, but if you can manage it there is potential in it.
