With two podiums in a row Carlos Sainz has scored important points for Ferrari in the Constructors' Championship, but the Spaniard hopes that he can soon fight for victory as well. So far, Sainz cannot match the speeds of Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen.

Sainz has now finished twice behind Leclerc's Ferrari in the race. The Spaniard managed to finish ahead of his teammate in the drivers' championship in 2021, but he seems to be getting off to a more difficult start than Leclerc at the start of the 2022 season.

The 27-year-old driver indicated at the post-race press conference that he did feel better in Saudi Arabia compared to Bahrain. "There's been a bit of progress done from my side of the garage, with the feeling with the car. I felt like today we did a small step in the right direction."

Sainz warns Leclerc and Verstappen

"I'm still not 100 per cent with the car, to keep bringing the points and the podiums is important, until I will get back to 100 per cent and it will be time to join these guys at the top for the fights", the Spaniard continues.

Sainz eventually finished third at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix after Sergio Perez had to give back his position at the safety car restart. However, the Ferrari driver does not understand why he did not get that position back earlier, as he would have had a chance to attack Verstappen.
