Lewis Hamilton was in third place on the podium after the Bahrain Grand Prix. That was a grand achievement given the problems still facing Mercedes' car. However, the seven-time world champion does not expect these to be resolved soon.

George Russell and Hamilton have been suffering a lot from porpoising since pre-season, a problem that occurs due to the new way of generating downforce. The German racing team has done everything in its power in recent weeks to solve the problem, but failed to do so.

As a result, both drivers continued to suffer from the problem in Bahrain and could not compete with Ferrari and Red Bull Racing. Mercedes seemed to finish behind the two teams, but after Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez crashed out, Hamilton ended up on the podium. This resulted in a great relief for Mercedes.

Hamilton is realistic about own car

Although Hamilton wants to look forward positively, the driver thinks he will run into the same problems in Saudi Arabia. "It could always be worse," states Hamilton in conversation with Crash.net. "So I’m hoping for the next race we manage to find some improvements but it's a fundamental issue that’s going to take a little bit longer I think to fix."
