AlphaTauri shakedown to follow launch: It's 'useful for main test'

AlphaTauri will be the second team to test their Formula One car on the track ahead of the 2022 season. The team has scheduled a shakedown on Tuesday, a day after the AT03's launch.
Red Bull Racing's sister team launched its AT03 on Monday via a digital reveal. Some teams have chosen that option because the real car isn't finished yet, but that's not the case with AlphaTauri. After Aston Martin tested the AMR22 last Friday, AlphaTauri will take to the track with the AT03 on Tuesday.

Which circuit that will be at is not yet known, but the shakedown is expected to take place at the Imola circuit. According to technical director Jody Egginton, those first few kilometers are very important for carrying out system checks. "Just the basics to know that everything is doing what it’s meant to do," he explained to The Race.
He continued: "It’s basic data collecting and it’s all very useful ahead of the main test where we start to focus on more complex topics and longer running and performance." With the sweeping changes to the technical regulations, a shakedown prior to the winter test in 2022 is more valuable than ever.
