'It's just that one was luckier to be in such a good car for so long'

Max Verstappen is thoroughly enjoying the battle with Mercedes this season. The current world championship leader has had to wait many seasons for this opportunity and now that it has finally arrived he thanks his employer Red Bull Racing. The Dutchman thinks it is a great achievement of the Austrian team that Mercedes has been finally overtaken.
"It's been a great year for us anyway. We've had a lot of great moments. Last year was pretty boring. Often there was no more than a third place. Of course, that's not what you want, but it can happen when one team (Mercedes) is very dominant. This year we improved the car quite a lot. The fact that we were in the title fight right to the end is very impressive on our part," said Verstappen with satisfaction with De Telegraaf.
Yet the 24-year-old from Limburg is not satisfied yet, because 2021 is the perfect opportunity to capture his first world title. He is battling Lewis Hamilton for the top spot, with the difference with two weekends to go eight points in Verstappen's favour.
Verstappen over Hamilton
Hamilton, on the other hand, is more experienced at dealing with situations like this. Verstappen is not of the same opinion and explains: "At the end of the day, it doesn't matter to me if I'm fighting someone my age or not. We're both good drivers, it's just that one was luckier to be in such a good car for so long...", he finally shares.
