Sergio Perez said goodbye to Racing Point in Abu Dhabi after seven years. The Mexican will not return to the team in 2021. Perez made a last minute switch to Red Bull Racing. On his own youtube channel Perez shared a video of the farewell, where he had a brief chat with team boss Otmar Szafnauer.

Perez retained in F1

Already in September last year Perez knew he had to look for a new seat if he wanted to stay in F1. Racing Point would change to Aston Martin F1 and Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll were preferred to the Mexican.

At the last minute of the season, however, Perez managed to convince with a masterful victory in Bahrain. It earned him a spot in F1 with not the least team on the grid. Perez will face Max Verstappen as a teammate at Red Bull Racing next year. The Dutchman won the last race, after which Perez also had to say goodbye to his former team.

Perez hands out a sneer to Szafnauer

The video posted by Perez shows the entire farewell to the driver in the team's garage box. "You will always have a friend in Mexico. So if you are in the area, give me a call. Except you!" Shouted Perez jokingly while pointing at team boss Szafnauer.

Below the video Perez posted: "An era that started in 2014 with Force India and ended with Racing Point came to an end in Abu Dhabi. They were my family all this time and I am very grateful for everything we have experienced together. Helping my colleagues not lose their jobs was the best decision I could have made."
