Ferrari makes wrong choice: "That's where it goes wrong".

Ferrari started the Belgian Grand Prix with Carlos Sainz on pole position, but the driver did not hold it for long. While the Spaniard eventually did secure third place, Charles Leclerc came no further than P6. There was a special moment in the race, as Giedo van der Garde also saw.

During the race, the Italian team decided to discuss with Leclerc over the board radio when would be the best time to make a pit stop. The discussion went on for so long that the analyst at Viaplay wonders what Ferrari's aim was.

Criticism of Ferrari policy

It seems to be a legacy of the race weekend in Hungary, where Ferrari again went strategically wrong. Leclerc was angry at the time and may have asked for more consultation within his team. Van der Garde does not think that is a good thing.

"Binotto should have said: 'Leclerc's engineer is not strong enough, so get out'. And then put in a new engineer who is strong, has character and says what it is and what he has to do," Van der Garde judged. "That's where it goes wrong. We can go to Zandvoort with Viaplay to help Ferrari strategically."
