De Vries on future: 'I really don't know'

Nyck de Vries was back in Formula 1 for the second time this season. In Barcelona he was a substitute driver for Williams and this weekend Mercedes gave him the opportunity to do a session in France. It tastes like more for the Dutchman, he tells Viaplay.

The driver was allowed to get into Lewis Hamilton's car and ended up finishing ninth. De Vries felt he got used to the car very quickly during practice and is confident he is ready for a move to Formula 1.

De Vries does not dare to estimate chances

It is difficult to estimate whether De Vries will ever get one of the twenty Formula 1 seats at his disposal. In the past, several teams have shown interest, but none of them decided to take the next step. De Vries himself also keeps his future in the middle.

"I respect your work and position," says De Vries when asked about his future. "I understand very well that you have to ask that question, so I certainly don't blame you. I sit here with an answer that will be no different, because I really don't know and have no control over it."
