Sergio Perez was confident of his chances at the Austrian Grand Prix, but his hopes of a podium finish were cut short by George Russell, who tapped the Mexican off the track. The Red Bull Racing driver is obviously not happy with the Briton's action.

"To be honest, there was nothing I could have done. I gave him enough space, I was clearly ahead, and it was up to him to control his car and make sure we got out of the corner without any contact. It was a shame we couldn't do that," Perez told Viaplay.

Perez disappointed

The Mexican is therefore very disappointed that he could not do anything for his team on Sunday. "It's very unfortunate what happened today. I felt we did everything we could to avoid an incident," he continued.

Sky Sports then asks Perez if he can take any comfort from the fact that Carlos Sainz was also unable to finish the race. "Not at all," Perez replies. "I feel very bad for Carlos about what happened today, but it has nothing to do with us. I think the car was not really good this weekend, so there is still some analysis to be done."
