Max Verstappen set the third fastest time during the third free practice session in Azerbaijan, just under three tenths of teammate Sergio Perez. In the final phase of VT3 on the Baku circuit, it looked like there was still more in it for the Red Bull Racing driver, but Verstappen was held up by Fernando Alonso during his fast lap.

Verstappen not happy with traffic

As the final minutes tick away on the clock, Verstappen puts on one more push to improve his time. The Dutchman seems to be doing a good job and sets the fastest time in the first sector. In the second sector, however, things go wrong when Verstappen gets Alonso in front of him as he enters the corner.

Verstappen has no way to go and is forced to stop his fast lap. " Unbelievable," the Dutchman yells on the radio about the many cars on the track. An improvement of his fastest time is definitely not possible anymore, but it is a good sign that Verstappen hasn't shown the back of his tongue today.
