"Definitely this result - I’ve been pushing for a podium," he said after the race. "It’s the hardest thing just to get a podium compared to a lot through my career and it was the biggest challenge to get that, and I just had to bide my time. I think coming into the season I really cultivated that really positive mental attitude and I’m taking that forward with me."
The Briton also took the time to thank the many Chinese fans who turned out at the circuit over the weekend, showing him huge affection and support - something Hamilton said he truly felt and embraced.
"I think I came into the season with the confidence that I’ve used to have, and I think I’ve stuck at it. I would say in combination with things like this is the biggest crowd I’ve ever seen here in Shanghai. I was so shocked to see it completely full. I really have to say a huge thank you to everyone here in Shanghai that came out to support our sport.
"And then Team LH China are unbelievable. They’re just the sweetest and most incredible supporters. My mum got to see it this weekend, which I think was really cool for her to witness the sincerity and the amazing support. So, they lift me up."

According to him, Hamilton delivered a superb performance and appears far more at ease with the current rules package, showing clear signs of adapting quickly to the demands of the new era. While Leclerc mounted a strong charge in the second half of the race in Melbourne, the anticipated late attack on Hamilton never truly materialised.
Instead, the race turned into a tactical showcase from Hamilton, who executed a flawless one-stop strategy and controlled proceedings with authority.
