The Turkish Grand Prix was not as easy for McLaren as it was for some other teams. AlphaTauri and Ferrari seemed to have found their speed at Istanbul Park, but Lando Norris admits at Motorsport Week admits that seventh place was the best McLaren could achieve.

The Brit started the race from seventh place and managed to finish there as well. Daniel Ricciardo finished the race in thirteenth place and therefore failed to pick up any points.

"I don’t think we had enough pace to do anything better. It was a very difficult race, so it was easy to do something bad and make a mistake. I’m happy with seventh. It is a few points. But we limited the difference to the Ferraris who had a decent day. Not a perfect day for us. P7 was the best we could do," said the 21-year-old driver.

Battle between Ferrari and McLaren continues

The title battle of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton is not the only battle on the grid, as Ferrari and McLaren also continue to fight for third place in the constructors' championship. McLaren currently hold a small lead of seven and a half points, but the fourth and eighth places of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in Turkey certainly didn't help.

Still, Norris remains optimistic and is confident they will still score points. "I wouldn't say the pace is confusing, we need to understand why. It's not something you can change. It's just the car. We just have to deal with it. In some places, it is very good and we have to maximise those. Then like today we have to maximize what is a bad result can still be a good one if you maximize it."
