Now that the second sprint race of the season is over, some people are already judging the success of this experiment. Some drivers thought it was boring, while some fans think it's a pity that the fastest drivers don't start at the front.

Those fans have not quite understood, because that was exactly the intention of this format. By qualifying in a sprint race format a large amount of uncertain factors are added to qualifying which can shake up the starting grid.

P4 Hamilton guarantees action

This in turn should make for more interesting races. With Hamilton not starting from the front we might not see a direct fight with Verstappen, but Mercedes are so much faster here that it might as well not have happened. We now know for sure that Hamilton will have to fight his way through both McLars. That makes the race interesting from the start.

Some of the best races and victories in the past were also the result of a failed qualifying session, think of Kimi Raikkonen in Japan 2005. By increasing the chance of this, the chance of a repeat of such a great race is also greater. In that respect the sprint race succeeds.
