The sprint qualifying is still a novelty in Formula 1 and with more novelties there are pros and cons. Sergio Perez hasn't had a good time in the sprint races so far and thinks the sprint qualifying sessions are boring for the fans.

Perez had a disappointing sprint in Italy. The Mexican was stuck in ninth place and could only overtake Lance Stroll. The Red Bull Racing driver was forced to give back the victory because he cut the corner. The second time, the overtaking manoeuvre was legal.

Perez finds sprint races boring

Perez was unhappy with the overall course of the second sprint: "Nothing happened in it at all. And I don't see the advantage of having a sprint race," the Mexican let us know at Autosport.com. "I can imagine that it's also boring for the fans and for the drivers. It doesn't give anything extra to be honest."

"I think at the moment, how it is, the current format, I don’t feel it brings anything. But obviously it’s done to improve the show, and we’ll see if the fans are happy with it," Perez continued. According to the Mexican, it's mainly down to the current cars, where it's difficult to overtake anyway. "I think they’ve probably taken the wrong tracks as well."
