For the fans, it was a long day in the rain at Spa-Francorchamps, with only four laps behind the Safety Car as a reward in the end. According to Peter Windsor, the fans got their way through, as Max Verstappen won the race.

Rain in Belgium

The Spa-Francorchamps circuit was once again packed with Dutch fans who had travelled to the circuit to support their hero Verstappen. Verstappen would eventually win the race, although he got only half points for it and it was without really a meter of racing.

''It was absolutely the right decision not to race. A disappointment though that you can't race F1 at this time in these conditions. I wonder what this race would have been like in 2022'', says Windsor in His video. He thinks that with the simpler cars from 2022 it might be easier to race in the rain again.

Profit for Verstappen

''If you're going to hand out points, you have to hand them out based on the grid order. Verstappen's lap was great on Saturday.'' Windsor also received criticism from Lewis Hamilton but disagreed. According to Windsor, the race was 'run' precisely to avoid paying fans back, and with Max's victory, they got what they had come for.

''The impression I got, there two hours watching the fans, was that the fans were there to see Max win. They got that and they will be happy with that. If Max had been third with Hamilton on pole, it would have been a different atmosphere there. So that was a home win for Max, and don't forget he has another home race at Zandvoort in a week'', Windsor concludes.
