As is common practice by now, the Formula 1 media hands out marks to the drivers after each Grand Prix. Where Max Verstappen already received a nearly perfect score from many media for his performance in Monaco, Sky Sports now also gave him a vote; they give the Dutchman a 9 and state that his masterful race is a symbol for his growth as a driver.

"This weekend certainly underlined that Verstappen is very much a rounded driver these days", reads the caption to the fine 9 for Verstappen on the website of Sky Sports. It's the highest score handed out, but Verstappen shares this honour with Norris and Vettel, who also showed themselves to be rock solid in Monaco.

"Path to a significant victory literally cleared, Max didn't make any mistakes in covering off Valtteri Bottas at the lights", continued Sky Sports, looking back at the Grand Prix. "Then seemingly had an answer each time his nearest challenger, at first the Mercedes and then Carlos Sainz, tried to close him down."

Bad start, perfect finish

Many a Formula One expert would not have been able to predict the outcome of the Grand Prix weekend on Thursday, however. During the first two free practice sessions, Red Bull seemed unable to get to grips with the specifics of the street circuit, but adjustments on Friday ensured Verstappen was still in contention for the win, and with success.
