Bottas ends the second test day in Bahrain as the fastest man. With a time of 1.30.289 he can call himself the fastest. Mercedes will be very happy with his time.

After lunch six new drivers made their appearance in the afternoon session. Lando Norris, Pierre Gasly, Charles Leclerc, Lance Stroll, Valtteri Bottas and Mick Schumacher all took their places at the wheel. After the green lights went out, it took a while for the first car to emerge. As they slowly crept out of their cottages, little of interest happened for the viewer. Mostly longruns were driven to collect data.

It took a long time before Mercedes entered the track. After three quarters of an hour they were still not visible. The preparation of Bottas was already not good. On Friday he drove only six laps.

Perez loses part of bonnet on the way

About an hour and a half before the time limit, Sergio Perez lost junk from his car. This ended up on the track and it was decided to raise a red flag. After a few minutes the test could be continued. Gasly got off to a good start.

After that it was a matter of Gasly and Norris swapping places. Then it was Gasly who improved the time with two tenths. A few laps later, it was Norris again. But 20 minutes before the end Bottas started to accelerate and left Gasly behind. Partly due to the second red flag in the afternoon this didn't change anymore. The German team will be very happy. Especially considering the difficult start of the day.
