Seven years ago today Michael Schumacher suffered severe brain damage from a skiing accident in the Alps. It's time to reflect on the Formula 1 legend, who has seven world titles to its name.

Little known about the condition of Schumacher

After the accident, Schumacher was kept in an artificial coma, from which he awoke six months later. Since then, however, little has been said about his condition. However, it seems clear that he is unable to speak for himself, the rest can only be speculated about.

Also for friends of Schumacher, who have worked with him in Formula 1, Tuesday is a day to reflect on the driver. For example, former Ferrari President Luca Di Montezemolo, who has worked with Niki Lauda and Kimi Raikkonen, among others, in addition to Schumacher, explains that his time with Schumacher has been most special.

Luca Di Montezemolo about Michael Schumacher

"I think of Michael very, very often. Every year since that terrible accident, especially on these days," says Di Montezemolo to Welt.de.

He says he had a special bond with the German. "I love his family, they often came to my house. I often pray for Michael."

With a few exceptions, the family does not allow former colleagues and friends to visit them. Di Montezemolo has not seen Schumacher since his accident. "Michael is always in my thoughts, but I have the greatest respect for the decisions his family makes."
