After last weekend's experiment with a two-day race schedule, people from the world of motorsport have been weighing in on the debate. Toto Wolff is the latest to give his thoughts and suggested it could be done on a race by race basis.

At Imola, the teams only had one practice session of an hour and a half to prepare before qualifying on Saturday. It was met with mixed opinions and the Formula 1 community are none the wiser if it will see it again.

Adaptability is needed

Mercedes can look back on the Imola race weekend with positivity after taking yet another one-two. Toto Wolff thought it was a successful experiment. Talking to Autosport he said: "I really like it. It makes the weekend very compact. It also requires a lot of adaptability from the teams. You have to make sure you put the car in a good position right from the start, there isn't enough time to analyse a lot of data and run the simulator at night."

Yet the Austrian team boss doesn't think that a two-day race weekend would work everywhere. "I think a three-day race weekend would be better for big races, which I hope will be able to attract a lot of visitors. I am thinking of Melbourne and the number of people who come to see it and how many things there are around the race at circuits like that. So I don't think it works everywhere, but on Imola it worked fine."
