Hamilton dives into the regulations: I don't want to give them any more reason

Lewis Hamilton has meanwhile 'collected' penalty points on his license and it even became a bit critical. After all, he still got two penalty points for his wrong test start, but these were later withdrawn. However, this has not been the first time this season that Hamilton has received penalty points and the Brit has now shared his intention not to want to create anymore reasons for reprimands.

Errors of the team

In Russia, the team was responsible for the wrong start of Hamilton, who did it in the wrong place. When this became clear, the race management withdrew the two penalty points. In Italy at Monza, he also got penalty points for entering the pit lane while it was closed. The team didn't communicate well there either, but the penalty points remained.

Those penalties, but also the effective penalties during a race, are annoying for the driver and the team. It can disrupt a victory or a good result. That's why Hamilton shared a new intention, he wants to dive into the regulations to see where the gray areas are. This with the goal not to be a cause for punishment again.

At Motorsport.com the six-time champion says: "I guess we’ll go through the rule book and pick out areas where they can create rules, areas where penalties have never been given before." That insinuates that Hamilton has the impression that it is going somewhere a little conscious.

Never had a penalty before

"We’ll try and figure out all the ones that they have, and try to make sure that we cover ourselves in the ones that we are aware of. I don’t think anyone’s had the penalty for that (practice start) before, so we’ll just work hard." So Hamilton and Mercedes want to eliminate any chance of a penalty by colouring very neatly within the lines.

"We’ve gone through seasons before without penalties, so just have to make sure I give them (stewards) no reason, not even a sniff, to be able to do something", concludes the Mercedes driver.
